Rockwood Lodge Interior
Rockwood Lodge, Highlands Township, Macon County, NC; 16,000 s.f.; 2007. Contractor: John Wesley Hammer Construction Company.
The Rockwood Lodge is a 16,000 s.f. estate in Highlands, North Carolina. The fixed finishes on the interior have been coordinated between Architect and Owner. The stone pattern that has been used on the exterior is also used on interior spaces such as the great room, kitchen, entry, lower level hallways and some fireplaces. The use of stone and antique timbers give the home a historic and rustic feel while being balanced with other more refined finishes. Some of these refined finishes are copper barrel vault ceilings, custom wood wainscot, base, casing, crown, custom cabinetry and stone. Every ceiling condition in the home has been given consideration. Some barrel vaults will be finished in plaster, some with wood and some will be clad in copper. Every room will have a unique truss design. The truss designs vary from antique timbers to Poplar logs, all with steel tie rods and plates.
