Project Description

Summit Surgical Center – OR Addition & Alteration; Frisco, CO; $1.5 million; 1992. [5]

In 1991, Summit Medical Center in Frisco, Colorado required a two Operating Room addition with four additional holding beds. Above is one of two Operating Rooms, both with a view to the mountains, for orthopedic procedures. Very few ORs have windows due to the complexity of condensation, sterility and sun control. These were handled with custom triple glazed window units with dual thermal breaks and integral blinds. Thus, orthopedic procedures using epidural anesthesia allow the patient to enjoy the beauty of the surrounding hillside during surgery. Below left is the soiled utility room and to the right is the post-op recovery room. The addition and alterations were done for a construction cost of $1.5 million.
