Bishop Cottage, Waynesville, NC; 2020.
Bishop cottage is a 1,000sqft home that lies near the clients’ existing home as a space for family to stay or for the use of Air B’n’B. It was designed to capture the beautiful, mountainous views of Waynesville, while not detracting from the extravagance of clients’ historic 1898 Victorian farmhouse. The home was to be a modern design in and out, with a diversity in materials that highlighted the form and elements of the building. Local Poplar Bark siding would clad the loft area, with a stark base of Corten Corrugated Steel siding around the bedroom and bathroom area below. The great room is clad in Hardie Board and Batten, with the entire building featuring a multitude of strategically placed windows that allow for light and views of the surrounding area.
