Grandfather Mountain Duplex Renovation
The duplex renovation on Grandfather Mountain involves various possible phased renovations on the upper and lower levels. One of the main priorities was to redesign the living room wall to become a window wall to open the sweeping views of Grandfather Mountain and the pond on the duplex’s back door. Expanding on opening up the place, the kitchen walls are to be removed to create an open floor plan for the kitchen, living, and dining. The kitchen will be completely remodeled, growing in size and catering to the Client’s kitchen preferences. Built in desk space with bookshelves will also be added to the great room across from the kitchen, near the dining area, for a space conscious office. On the other side of the house, the entry is getting reworked to be more pronounced. On the inside of the entry, both flanking rooms are being redesigned with one becoming a mud room and the opposite becoming a bunk room. The existing closet in the entry is to be removed, and the space given to the existing bathroom to have it include a shower. Downstairs, the master bathroom and master closet are being redesigned to be larger, with the master bath now having a walk in shower, water closet, and double vanity. The secondary bedroom’s bathroom is also being reworked to allow space for the relocated laundry room.
