Lake Sheila Renovation
This project consists of an existing home has been built upon at different times throughout its lifetime. Filled with character but ready for updates, the Client got us involved to help bring the home into modernity with the addition of spaces and porches that bolster the enjoyment of its picturesque location as well as accommodate year-round living! The existing home stand around 2,650 square feet but with the renovation and design work, the home grows to around 4,000 square feet. The design works to utilize the existing form and spaces to expand naturally as to not disrupt the scenic site and surrounding views.
Some of the elements to be reworked are as follows; the entry is being renovated for a smoother transition from the exterior to interior. The dining room and living room are being opened up to one another, further complimenting the entry as you enter into an open and inviting space. The dining room will now also open to the addition of the screened-in porch that is flooded with beautiful, sweeping views. The kitchen is growing in size to accommodate the fabulous meals that the Clients plan on making with their home-grown produce, as well as a more intimate breakfast area. Adjacent to the breakfast area and kitchen is the preparation/pantry area that has outside access to the client’s garden a few feet away. They bring to meaning to “farm to table”! The laundry room is being relocated off of this area and out of the master suite, which opened up the master suite to a redesign that maximizes the view, comfort, and flow. This along with a master deck makes for a suite that even penthouses would look to fondly. Heading downstairs, we are renovating exterior-only-access areas to be incorporated back into the house from the interior. What appears to be existing storage and workshop space is now evolving into a new work area, a study, guest room, and bathroom. Below the screened porch there is the addition of a workout room with views that will make a rowing machine feel like kayak! The home will have matching exterior materials to the existing, making its overall renovation have a subtle continuity to its existing life.
